Step 1. Note the parts of the focus drive: 1 - mounting plate, 2 - sleeve (attached to the mounting plate), 3 - motor/controller assembly, 4 - three set screws, which fix the motor/controller assembly in the sleeve, 5 - replacement screws and washers. |
Step 2. Note that the focus drive mounts on the side of the microscope where the eye-pieces are on the left and the light source is on the right. Loosen the set screw in the fine focus knob 4 and remove the fine focus knob exposing the focus shaft. Unscrew the three screws 1, 2, and 3. |
Step 3. Loosen three set screws 4 of step 1 and pull the motor/controller assembly 3 out of the sleeve 2. Push the flexible coupling 6 onto the microscope focus shaft so that the shaft goes into the hole 8. While doing this, hold the fine focus knob on the other side of the microscope to prevent the shaft from sliding out. Tighten the set screw 7 in the flexible coupling 6 to fix it to the focus shaft. |
Step 4. Pull the mounting plate with the attached sleeve over the cable and over the motor/controller assembly and mount the plate to the microscope using three replacement screws and washers 5 (choose the screws of the appropriate length). Fix the motor/controller assembly in the sleeve with set screws 4. |
